Uma Nota Culture is excited to announce our co-presentation of two livestreamed concerts as part of Toronto's City Hall Live Online series.
The concert is streamed from the City Hall Live Facebook page.
The initiative out of the Music Office provides paid performance opportunities to the city's artists, uplifting entertainment for the people of Toronto and the world, all while raising money for Unison Benevolent Fund.
Junior Dias is a Brazilian accordionist, vocalist, and composer who now lives in Toronto. The charming Capixaba (a name for people from the southeastern state of Espírito Santo), was first encouraged to play the accordion by his father and neighborhood friends at the age of ten, and what started as child’s play soon became his life purpose to share the art of Brazilian music.
Besides extensive touring in Brazil, he has performed in Russia, England, Holland, and Canada, including opening for the legendary Alceu Valença in Toronto. He has collaborated with many well known Brazilian artists including Domiguinhos, Mestre Zinho, and Dió de Araújo. Junior has won many awards in his career, including Best Accordionist in 2018 at the National Festival of Forró in Montanha, Brazil. In 2019 he released his first EP ‘Na Boca do Povo’, comprised entirely of his original compositions.
